One of my 2018 goals was to buy a house with Mistress and we have been looking for some time to find the perfect house. It had to be the perfect one as this is the house we intend to spend the rest of our lives in, it isn’t just a stepping stone to something else.
One of the major requirements for this was that it have a large basement because both Mistress and I have always wanted a fully kitted out dungeon in our home. It is surprisingly hard to find urban housing in the UK with a large basement and we were only looking at a small area. We found a few and looked at them but the houses and their basements were too small for what we wanted so we kept looking.
Eventually we found what we wanted, it is a beautiful detached house with a huge basement with a tall ceiling. Apparently the house was built with a basement and then one of the previous owners dug it out even more which is why it has so much headroom which is important for what we intend to use it for.
Unfortunately the house is very expensive and also needs a lot of work doing to it, the basement especially is not currently suitable for anything other than storage. After much negotiation and raiding of savings though we have made an offer and it has been accepted. It is very exciting and also scary, it is way more money than I have ever borrowed or spent on anything ever!
Anyway, that is all just background to this post which is actually about our plans for the underground play room. We have all seen dungeons with the kinds of furniture seen in the picture above and we like all of that but we want our room to have unique pieces of furniture suited to our tastes.
So firstly, I wondered if there is anyone amongst my readership who is involved in building custom dungeon furniture or knows of anyone who is? It would need to be of a high quality and to whatever specifications and designs we come up with.
Secondly I wanted to invite the devious minds who read my blog to suggest some items that we could have built to go in there. We may use your design or combine it with other or our own ideas for things to be used on me when we get the dungeon up and running. You can either describe the idea in detail or draw it and put it in the comments on here or on tumblr. I’m looking for ideas for large and small items or basically anything we can have made that is versatile and reusable, we don’t want to pay for anything to be made that’ll we maybe use once or twice.
My ideas so far are…
A fixture on the wall which can take a wooden pole, a pointed wooden pony type attachment, a spiked pole or electrified one. The idea being I would be tied to the wall on my tip toes with some sort of torture device fixed between my (or someone else’s) legs. It’s better than just a normal wooden pony because you can change the torture and add new ones later on.
A St. Andrews cross but that is adjustable in various ways. One that is can be moved and laid flat so it is like a table that you can be restrained to and also the cross can be changed so that rather than an X shape it is more of a + shape. Basically it means spreading the subs legs much wider once they have been strapped into it. Also the X would be extendable from the point where the limbs are bound meaning it can work for various heights of sub plus the sub can be stretched once bound. The mechanisms would need to be fairly strong and not flimsy so that the cross would stay how the dominant wants it.
Some sort of automated whipping/paddling/caning machine.The idea being I could be strapped in to a chair or something, or strap myself in (but not be able to unstrap myself) and a device would administer corporate punishment to various parts of my body. Ideally this would be controlled remotely via an app or something but that might be too complicated.

Learning from my mistakes 
A lot of this stuff is extremely easy to do with just hand tools, and there are plenty of instruction to do it online. Its not like this needs to have some sort of ultra fine finish. Doing stuff yourself will normally get you a product more suited for what you personally need, while being significantly less expensive

The easiest way I would see of doing this would be placing a decently sturdy hook into a stud on the ceiling near a wall. Like this:

From here, I think you already know how to keep yourself on your toes with rope, so no need to cover that.
Then you would just have a wooden pony, which is just a saw horse, available commercially at any home depot (or eqivalent), which is the exact same thing marketed for a different purpose. Here is some for sale

for the legs, you just mount in some 2x4s of the appropriate height, which work just fine.
For the center insert (the actual pony) maple, black locust, black walnut, oak, nearly anything will be fine as long as it is decently hard and with a small enough grain. Go with what you think looks best. Then you can just point it with hand tools to where you see fit.
And with this style of saw horse, you can have that swapped out for a piece of PVC pipe as you see fit. putting spikes in a chunk of PVC pipe is extremely easy, and to electrify one you would just stick some electrodes on it

Making one of these that can be moved or laid flat while remaining sturdy is not an issue in the slightest, and is extremely easy to do. There are even kits to do this pretty easily

Use relatively long pieces of wood, and change out the length of the restraints, and different height subs can use it.
There are a lot of issues with making it adjustable in shape, though. That is something I would recommend that you either get a second cross to do it with, or not do at all, because that is going to be extremely hard for anyone to do for something custom

So this is what I was thinking of for making an adjustable St Andrews cross, excuse the very crude illustration!
There would be two identical pieces of wood like this which would fit together perfectly to form a cross with the circular parts together in the middle and a large bolt would join them through the middle. There would need to be bearings or something in between so that they can move against each other. Around the outside of one side of both circular sections would be holes so that a locking pin can be pushed through to lock the position of the cross.
For the restrains I was thinking of some kind of winder on the back of each leg with a rope attached that goes over a wheel on the end of each leg and down the front with a cuff attached. Once the subs limbs are in the cuffs the winders can be, well, wound to stretch out the sub. The winders would need to be strong and not release whilst under tension but once the cuffs are undone and the tension removed the winders would release.
That’s just my initial thoughts on it. There would need to be some complex metal work to allow the cross to move from horizontal (at waist height ish) to almost vertical. I’d probably want there to be some padding on the cross as well, maybe in leather although Mistress might disagree about that one!

I am a big believer in KISS – keep it simple, stupid
When more variables are entered, things are more likely to fail. This seems like a case where having 2 separate ones made would be more simple than 1 moving one. Your idea definitely could work, but I just would not advise it

Plenty of electric winches could work here

How about a more standard type cross? Have you any interest in crucifixion? And it should double up nicely as a restraining device in any number of ways.
I actually hate decorating and have terrible taste in home decor etc. Thankfully Miss has excellent taste so she will sort most of the house, the dungeon will 100% be a team effort though!
You mean like a crucifixion cross? I don’t think there will be room for that and an andrews cross and I think I want the latter more.
Congratulations on buying your home together, and I think that designing and building a dungeon together would have to be one of the most wonderful things for a D/s couple to share
The one Item that I would love for you to get together would be a cage bed. By that I mean a bed that your Mistress can sleep in and be completely comfortable in which also has a cage for you built under it. I know it would not be used all the time but for those weekend long sessions it could be wonderful. Ideally the dimensions of the cage could be modified by sliding bars through various sections to restrict the amount of space available for you
As far as your dungeon goes, I would suggest spending some time and money on getting it as sound proofed as possible. That way you could let yourself go completely without having to worry about anybody hearing you.
I do like the idea of a cage bed but I think a bed in the dungeon will just take up loads of room that could have more toys in it. Maybe we’ll get a cage bed in the bedroom that can be disguised as a normal bed.
It will be very sound proofed because it is underground but maybe we’ll get some sound proofing in the ceiling, I don’t know we’ll see.

Congrats on the house! I’m a huge fan of predicaments.
I would suggest two rings attached at opposite ends of the room with a knotted rope stretched Between them. The submissive is situated so that the rope is pulled tight up between their legs while straddling the rope.
The Dominant can make all sorts of variations on the torments to be endured. I.e Height /tension of the rope, roughness of the rope, tiger balm or hot sauce placed on the knots, stinging nettles to be wrapped on the rope.
There can be time limits set and punishments for not finishing in a certain amount of time.
And it’s a pretty easy setup/take down. Just two eye rings and a rope.
There will be rings in all the walls, ceiling and floor so that we can do various things like this. We want it to be fairly versatile so that it doesn’t get boring. Adding up everything we want to do though it’s going to cost a fortune so this might be a work in progress for a while!
while i do not have a specific recommendation in regards to dungeon furniture, i have a general one in regards to fittings and other general hardware …. find a boating / sailing equipment shop in your area ..
Yachting equipment is (generally speaking) of better quality than stuff you get in DIY shop, while still having reasonable prices. And they usually come with SWL (safe working load) information – somethnig that DIY shiop stuff rarely has. If you go though therse shops with open eyes, you will find lots of pervertables…
Also (speaking as someone who has sold boating equipment for a living for many years) sales people in these shops do know that you are not using it for sailing – and usually have a pretty good guess what you are up to. 8) ((I could tell a few funny stories – a couple standing in forn of the rack with the rope spools and her winding rope around her wrists is a pretty good hand – “Ma’am, take the green one two rows up, its much nicer on the skin.”)
Do look through the shops in the area, ask a few questions, and pick a shop you feel good about. The chances to get a sales person who is kink friendly is pretty good. if you ask nicely, you should also get good technical advice (How to properly scale pulleys, for example)
Interesting, I didn’t know boating people were so kinky! I wonder how many floating dungeons there are out there on the sea where no-one can hear you scream!
It’s a good idea though, boats have all sorts of attachments that sit flush with the surface don’t they? And they generally look nice too. Thanks for the suggestion, I will certainly be looking into it.
the percentage of kinky people amon sailors is the same as anywhere esle .. its just that on a boat you tend to have rope handy always 8)

I think it will be fun but a lot of work. Also we’ll have to be careful who we get in to do some of the work!
This sounds like a great project.
I think that any good home dungeon needs a one bar prison.
I’d also suggest you plant a patch of nettles in the back somewhere, and look in to what kind of bushes or trees make good switches and thrive in your climate. I like the idea of a sub having to go cut her own switch. Hopefully someone will get you one or the other as a housewarming gift.
There were some bits on house of gord where electro-shock elements were wired to go off with someone using the doorbell…
What are your thoughts on getting a urinal installed in one of the upstairs bathrooms that leads to a tank in the basement? The tank could be hooked up to a shower in the basement, or used as a reservoir for forced drinking or enemas. The urine collected wouldn’t even have to be solely from people who know about this part of your life and could make plain dinner with friends or coworkers a little dirtier.
As a note though, all kinds of things go down the drain of a urinal when not used for a devoted kinky purpose: urine, spit, snot, cigarette ash, mints and gum… and that’s before they decide to ‘flush’ with whatever drink they happen to be holding. You’ll probably want a strainer installed before the forced drinking.
I like the idea of the urinal but I think it would raise a lot of questions as to why two women living together had a urinal in their bathroom!
Not sure what you tell the plumber, but for everyone else who asks, maybe it was there when you moved in.
